Choosing the Right Receding Hairline Treatment
The most important thing a man must understand before choosing a receding hair line treatment is to know exactly what type of hair loss he is experiencing. The most cause of a receding hair line in men is by far a condition called androgenetic alopecia. This kind of hair loss is characterized by thinning weakening hair and eventually the familiar receding hair line. Androgenetic alopecia is caused by increasing levels of the androgen dihydrotestosterone or DHT. As men age more and more of the hormone testosterone is converted into DHT. When DHT levels become high enough it begins to attach to hair follicles. DHT causes hair follicles to go into a dormant growth phase which begins to weaken the hair leading to a receding hair line.
Topical vs. Systemic Receding Hair Line Treatment
A receding hair line treatment will normally come as a topical solution or a systemic treatment. An effective treatment for receding hair line must focus on both lowering DHT levels in the body and blocking its negative effects on the hair follicles. For this reason a two part system with both a topical solution for the hair follicles and a systemic treatment, usually in pill form, for lowering DHT levels is usually the best choice to stop receding hairline.
